How Revivetendo Connects

Just like official servers, our network needs to verify your console to let you play online. When you connect, your console automatically sends its serial number, device ID/certificate, and a password hash to log in.

Why does my console send this?

This information is strictly technical and is only used to make your connection work! Because the Revivetendo Relay Network allows your homebrewed console to connect to custom services, we have to authenticate your device exactly the same way the official servers do. It helps us keep the network secure and stable for everyone.

What exactly is needed to log in?

  • Console Serial Number: Helps the network recognize your specific console when you connect.
  • Device ID / Certificate: A standard requirement for secure communication so your console can safely talk to the network.
  • Password Hash: Used to securely log you in. Your console automatically scrambles your password into a secure "hash" before connecting, so your actual password never leaves your console.

Is my data safe?

Absolutely! This technical data is never sold or shared. It simply exists to keep your console securely logged in and ensure the network stays up and running for everyone.

3DS diagnostics (RvtA)

If you turn on analytics in Nimbus, a small background module called RvtA records diagnostic data. Nimbus asks you once when you first open it, and you can change your choice at any time. When a game crashes, this tells us whether a hardware problem (like a weak battery or overheating) or a bug on our side caused it.

  • What is recorded: battery level, voltage and temperature, whether the console is charging, Wi-Fi status and signal strength, whether the lid is open or the console is asleep, which game or app is running, and the last error codes of the Wi-Fi, friends and account services. This is written down about once a minute.
  • Identifiers: your friend code and a random ID created on your console. RvtA does not send your serial number.
  • Crash dumps: when a game or system module crashes and Luma saves a crash dump, RvtA uploads the newest one once. It contains the processor registers and a small part of the program's memory from the moment of the crash.
  • Memory dumps: only when you press L + START + SELECT, RvtA saves the memory of the running game or app (or of the HOME Menu) and uploads it; the notification light glows white while it saves. A memory dump can contain anything that game has in memory, such as save data or names, so only press it when we ask you to while helping you with a problem.
  • How it is sent: the data is saved on your SD card in /3ds/revivetendo-analytics/ and uploaded to our server every 15 minutes while you are online. The copy on your SD card is deleted once the upload has succeeded. It is only used for troubleshooting and is never sold or shared.
  • Turning it off: in Nimbus, press SELECT and set Analytics (RvtA) to Off. RvtA is removed and stops after the next restart.
